Cheesecake...YUMMY!!

The person who is responsible for the cheesecake's existance
Kashka carefully slicing as the eager people looked on
Now doesn't THAT look absolutely tantalising?
Again people, the topic today is food ( what else is there to talk about?! ) ..specifically dessert. Bipana and Kashka made a kick-ass cheesecake with chocolates, nuts, raisins and strawberries...feast your eyes on the cake people!! And it tastes as good as it looks

i lurveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee my mother's cheesecake! those look fantabulous! Thu 12-Feb-2004 22:47

Candlemas: The nite the French attacked our flat!!

Helen preparing the batter for the savoury crepes
Gladys doing the batter for the sweet crepes
The all important ingredients
View all 15 photos...
As usual, the occupants of 2D-3 will always find an excuse to celebrate FOOD!! haha... Anyway the history behind the Candlemas: The French celebrate it annually on the 3rd of February by making crepes. It is tradition that during the making of crepes, they are holding the largest possible coin in one hand ( in this case a 2 pound coin ) while flipping the crepe on the other hand. If he/she pulls it off successfully, it is believed that they will get whatever they wish for and have a prosperous year ahead of them. Back to the present day celebrations in 2D-3, Gladys and Helen were the brains behind this celebration and bought a "s#@t load" of ingredients to make the crepes and its fillings. They were cooking for 16 people, a personal record for our wee flat, with the help of 2D-3 occupants and guest stars Olivier ( Aline's bf ) and David ( Aline's and Olivier's pal ), and we can vouch that it wasn't an easy task. It took a hell lot of sweat, bruises , burns and most importantly laughter to pull it off successfully. At least half of the people in the flat last night was French: there's Helen and Gladys of course; Aline, Olivier and their friend David, and most of the guests so naturally they were speaking French most of the time, it felt like being in the country itself! Was like watching a French movie without English subtitles but after a while, it got to a point I actually understood them And for the climax, we had the ever-so-frequent-and-annoying fire alarm for the finish. All in all, a great night people

ur in UK , i'm in Paris . u should pass me that recipe. french dont eat crepe like that. they look yummy ! ( hehe ) Wed 4-Feb-2004 15:48

Finally...SNOW!!

Snowing heavily at Cathedral Street
Blizzard
Me, Nina and Noreen
View all 9 photos...
Yes, people...it has finally arrived after much anticipation...well, at least from me anyway Glasgow has finally snowed today...not much, but still enough to get me up and running around the flat like a small kid It lasted for about 1/2 an hour then the sun came out and the snow started melting away...and resulted in the mushy, yucky slush Glad I got to experience it firsthand with my much loved flatmates : Janina, Bipana and Aline..Although I only got pictures of it with Janina as we were doing our laundry...oh! and met with long-time-no-see Noreen in front of the Village office and took pics with her as well T'was really beautiful..Generally I had a great start to my day

Wow! I really miss the snow...could still feel the fragile snowflakes on my palm...those were the days. Thu 29-Jan-2004 03:46

Shopping trip to Lidl and Glasgow Uni's open hauz

View all 26 photos...
I was woken up by the sunshine streaming through my window...and said to myself " Nothing's gonna bring me down today! " Then a few mins later, I heard the sound of bagpipes being played on the street and ran to my window to check it out. It was a band of Scottsman wearing kilts and playing their bagpipes! There was a small procession of policeman and women I presumed going to the church. And i took pics of them. T'was really kewl Afterwards, despite having tonnes of work to do...I couldn't help it as the weather was absolutely beautiful and I took up on my Janina's (my German hsemate) offer to go and get some groceries at the German supermarket Lidl.Hahahaha...weird, huh? Nak gi beli groceries pun nak amik pics..kan? I was cheered up by the change of weather from the day before (which was non-stop pouring rain all throughout the day and night)and decided to bring along my dgtal cam Hahahaha...here are the results of lugging the camera along > Since I can't create a new entry for the same date, here are the pics of the open hse organized by the gorgeous , smart and talented students of Glasgow Uni. The bujang students of Strathclyde Uni were cordially invited to attend this event but unfortunately, only me , Mitra and Noreen attended as the others were swamped with their work. To tell u the truth, kiteorg pun byk keje tapi gatal nak pi jenjalan raye nih . Hahaha...so anyway, the food was excellent...compliments to the chefs...the atmosphere was festive with hari raya songs being played in the background...and the angels were absolutely wonderful hostesses...not to mention the hosts as well Hahaha...had a great time!!

urghhh... i'm so jealous of u Mon 1-Dec-2003 12:06
